About Flying Mushroom
Flying Mushroom is a Colorado-based mycology supply company born from a simple obsession: growing mushrooms is one of the most rewarding things you can do with your hands, and more people should be doing it.
How It Started
It started in a garage in Englewood, with a single oyster kit and a lot of trial and error. We burned through substrate, cracked open grain bags, and killed more cultures than we’d like to admit. We read every book, watched every video, and still made mistakes — contamination, dried-out blocks, fruiting in the wrong conditions. But somewhere in the mess, we figured it out. That first flush of oyster mushrooms — watching them pin, cluster, and double in size overnight — hooked us for good. We started sharing extra kits with friends, then selling at local farmers’ markets, and eventually opened the warehouse in Englewood to help others skip the hard lessons we learned.
What We Believe
We believe mushroom cultivation shouldn’t require a microbiology degree or a thousand-dollar lab. It should be accessible, affordable, and genuinely fun. That’s why we sell the same supplies we use ourselves — grain sourced from Curve Feed in Lakewood, substrates blended in small batches, and equipment we’ve tested in our own grows.
Our Classes
Our hands-on classes in Englewood are capped at 6 students because we believe you learn mushrooms by doing, not watching. In 90 minutes, you’ll inoculate your own bag, learn the lifecycle, and leave with the confidence to keep growing.
